Welcome

Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I’m a writer, editor, and youth advocate. I’m drawn to the things that make life complicated. If you don’t want to talk about it, chances are, I want to write about it.

More About Me

I’m the Executive Editorial Director at Farrar Straus Giroux Books for Young Readers and a Divisional Vice President of the Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, where I manage a team of editors and acquire and edit books for children and teenagers. I teach a workshop in Author Care offered to all Macmillan employees, and I am a founding member of the MCPG Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

I am also an essayist and playwright with work published in Salon, Glamour, Parents Magazine, Publishers Weekly, and Lilith. My essay "My Mother, the Imposter" received first place in the Award for Excellence in Writing about Seniors category through the 42nd Annual Simon Rockower Awards for Excellence in Jewish Journalism.

Currently a CASA (court appointed special advocate) for a teen in foster care, I have volunteered with people from underserved communities—including young adults experiencing homelessness, youth in the juvenile justice system, and women in prison—for the past twenty-five years.

A graduate of Vassar College, with a degree in sociology, I have a certificate from the Radcliffe Publishing Course.

My first sentence was, “Dog chase cat up tree.”
