What Coaching Is

Professional coaching is a tool to help get what you want out of your work life. And remember: Not all work looks the same, and not all work is paid. Being a creative person is work. Supporting a loved one as a caregiver is work. Looking for a job is work. Coaching is about exploring the way you feel while you’re doing the things that matter to you, identifying what is holding you back, and making a clear pathway of actionable steps for moving forward.

Don’t Take My Word For It

“I wouldn’t have succeeded in being the sole caregiver for my grandfather, if it weren’t for Joy. She asks the right questions that build your confidence and get you to a place of acceptance. Her warmth transcends her coaching sessions. Truthfully, I’ve gained more strength and perseverance as a caregiver from my time with Joy than from years of weekly therapy sessions.”

—Sarah Cerio

Joy’s ability to reflect back key themes, and to draw out the through lines from both what's said and what's left unsaid, is remarkable. That level of attunement lets me dig deeper, faster, making the work of caring for an adult loved one (especially from afar) far more manageable. Joy always checks in before weaving in her own insights, something I deeply appreciate and value. Her warm, thoughtful, and compassionate approach has been a tremendous support during a dynamic and challenging season. With Joy as your coach and ally, you'll never feel alone navigating eldercare. 10/10. Highly recommend!!

“Joy has a natural ability to make you feel comfortable and safe in a coaching session. She listens attentively and asks questions that encourage you to think differently and explore new perspectives. She creates a space that is warm, supportive and filled with a bit of humor!

—Karen Grove,
Director at Kean University

Joy’s skills as a professional coach feel like having a personal workplace therapist. She helped me move beyond emotional overwhelm and complexity to focus on what could actually be done.

By balancing empathy with structure, Joy guided me through challenging workplace situations and helped clarify goals that turned into defined, concrete actions. Her approach is especially effective for leaders and professionals facing high-stakes decisions, difficult dynamics, or periods of change—turning insight into momentum and clarity into action.”

—Daniella L.,
Nonprofit Director

“Having never done anything like this before, I went into my coaching session with no clear intentions or goals. It didn't matter--Joy asked me specific, sharp prompting questions that quickly led to a deeply productive conversation around my career concerns, both logistical and emotional. I left feeling like I had attended both an inspiring business conference and a thought-provoking therapy session. Joy makes her clients feel comfortable but also challenges them; she's exactly who you want as a coach.”
